Someone I know is suicidal. She plans it months ahead. She begins by giving all her things away, precious valuable collections of her personal stuff. Then she starts to spend all the money in her savings that was meant for her future i.e. maybe retirement, emergencies. Makes sure she spends it on stuff she's been deprived of. To make sure she does not leave anything behind for the damned family.

Breaks a few essential things in the house, then sits on the edge of the balcony on the 20th floor of the apartment.

All of a sudden she climbs back up and decides she's afraid to die, but realises that she has not a penny left to her name.
She did it once. She is on the verge of doing it again. And she has a tendency to do it several more times. Maybe throughout the rest of her adult life, that is if she doesn't take a wrong step soon. We have similar personalities.

She needs to seek professional help! She may need to be committed. It's hard to force this upon someone you care for, and you might loose a friend, but it's better than seeing her suffer, or worse...
She may need financial counseling. This might help her learn to be smart with her money, so she doesn't get down in the dumps about it. You can not sit around and let it happen! Just because she hasn't went through with her suicide attempts in the past, doesn't mean she won't do it in the future!!!
Make sure you are there for her, always give her support. If you think she may be on the verge of suicide, don't leave her side until she is committed!!!
Loosing someone to suicide is such a painful thing to go through, trust me. Do you everything you can do avoid it!!!
When you say you have similar personalities, does that mean you consider suicide too? If so, DO NOT DO IT!!!!! Think of a little girl who has terminal cancer, and has only a few days left to live. Her family would probably do anything to save her. Life is a precious gift, you and your friend have been given this gift. Think how lucky you are, and how you should appreciate it, that little girl and her family certainly would.

First have strength! Todays mental health system is getting better every day. We do have meds that can help when regulated for the person. There are many people that share experiences with friends and family that get togather as support teams and may help you and you friend to live a long productive life. WE commend you for being the kind of friend we all wish we had! Thank you, you build my faith in man kind. I say these things from my own personal experience in my mental health, I am not a professional, nor do I have a phd.

She wants to live, but is afraid to continue for whatever reasons she may have. It is why she does not go through with it. The planning, the spending, it's like a cleansing process that she subconsciously feels will aid in healing whatever it is she is trying to relieve. To rid of all impurities. She thinks of doing it because she finds no other way out, this is her way out (or she thinks). Then she realizes she's afraid to die, but not of death since she's been so eagerly planning it. She's afraid of non-existance. Now she's left with nothing to exist with, and the furious cycle begins again.

This situation which keeps putting her in the same position needs attending. She is obviously not happy and must seek happiness. What is the problem and what solution will bring her happiness? And how can she get to that point? You must think of yourself before anybody, if you're not happy with yourself or your life, you can't make anybody else happy either. And although, many people say that being suicidal is nothing but being selfish and thinking of nobody but yourself, I disagree. This is psychological warfare, and the only way to beat it is by thinking of what's best for you.

There are other options out there, she just needs to believe in herself, face whatever it is she's trying to escape from and seek help. And I'm not implying psychological help, seek help from friends and family, maybe the problem is with them, then try speaking to them about it. Make them aware of how you're feeling and what you think the the solution can be. Or ask of a solution they might have, whatever makes it better for everybody and whatever makes her happy.

I'm not very aware of her situation which makes it harder to help but whatever it is, there is a way out. It might be difficult, in fact it might be very difficult but in the long run it'll be best. And she won't have to spend her adult life penniless, and with broken furniture, then again and most importantly, she will still be among us.

I hope I've been of some help.

You obviously know to take this person seriously. Please do so. Offer to go with her so you both can seek help or find someone to get help together. You both need it. Having similar personalities, especially such as this is not a good thing, when suicide is involved. Get help or seperate from each other, get help for the other person and for yourself. There is not time to waste here. That person may be telling you he/she is going to wait and may be buying a couple hours, a couple days. By then, it may be too late. You have no moral choice but to call someone. For her and for yourself.

It would seem to me that she is depressed, feels she has nothing to look forward to, nothing to live for. If someone is so determined to end their own life as to have already planned it so carefully, and then following through as far as she did, she needs immediate professional help. The next time she may not stop herself. See if you can get her to go with you to the hospital. She needs in-patient treatment. Call a suicide hot-line and tell them what's going on. Ask them how to get her into the hospital where she can be safe and get started on treatment. Good luck.

The person in which you speak of does need help, perhaps you feel that its your help but I disagree highly that "like attracts like".

Are you aware if there is a in particular issue present of which she might not be willing to accept? If so, it is vital to her essence that she becomes very patient very soon!

Simply wanting immediate attention is apparently not the correct approach. You may wish to very assertively and in a cognitive manner ask her what crime it is she feels that she has committed.

You may want to try and address her fears in a sense so she understands that she can learn something positive from them.

"shes only damming herself while being afraid to live"

u need to have your friend get some help. this is no laughing matter.... its a serious chemical imbalance or something in her brain to make her feel this way, she may have something like bi-polar disorder. get her help if u truly care about her. if u are not brave enough this could end her life.... and if you stop and think about it, us humans are the only species who do this (that i know of) and its sad.. all the other species are fighting to survive in the wilderness and it is hard! we have everything we could ever need. she just needs to change her state of mind. if her family is so bad, tell her to forget them, its for her own good. take her out and get her out of that depression. good luck. best wishes.
