3 things are very much required in life, 1) Parents, 2)Friends & 3)Life Partner. Without any of these, life becomes half. People become great friends when they have something common between them, or if they guide, help each other. If they are in the same class, or are neighbours, or are co-workers etc.. Modern days, people make friendship & become great friends online, because they meet each other daily, understand each others feelings, share all the happiness & sorrows & sometimes sacrifice.

Great friends are just that - great.
A friend can support you when you need encouragement.
A friend can keep you motivated.
A friend can give you advice, a different persepective.
A friend genuinely cares about your well-being... and sometimes, that's all you need.
A friend can make you laugh.
A friend can make you feel special.
A friend takes care of you when you are sick.
A friend knows when you need a hug, and gives you one.
Certain people can become friends because they have a lot in common, or sometimes a situation bonds them (death, classmates, clubs, etc)

I think that, for many people, it can be a very satisfying relationship when you have someone in your life that you can talk to about anything and they give their viewpoint, personal experience, encouragement, etc. on the topic.
I am great friends with those that share the same moral standards, have a similar viewpoint as I do, and can logically and effectively communicate their ideas.

Because it makes someone feel better. The great friends lead you through hard things in your life. Also, you can tell them stuff that you can't tell anyone else. You can vent to them!!! They are just great!!!! I basically completes you

Because the one they are being great friends with makes them feel wonderful most of the time. It isn't how we feel about others that makes us be friends but how they make us feel about ourselves. If you think of eachperson you knowas a mirror - consider how you reflect off each of them? some reflect you back in a negative way and some send your vibe back in a more positive way. think aboutit-k-
