I once saw a documentary (Called WImbledon Classic Rallies) that 1990 was the last year that a player used a wooden racket at WImbledon. It didn't say which player it was, though. Probably somebody who lost VERY early

In 1967 the Wilson T2000 appeared, the first metal racket. It was crap and most people I knew didn't use it. But slowly metal and nonwood rackets became more popular, but still many of us continued using wood rackets well into the late 1980s. I think I did not purchase a composite racket until sometime in the early 1990s, somewhat after my active playing days. So I would guess someone was playing with wood rackets at Wimbledon as late as the late 1980s or early 1990s.

The last time there was a wood racket used in a Wimbledon men's final was in 1984 when John McEnroe used a Dunlop Maxply against Jimmy Connors and his T2000 metal trampoline.

In 1985, both Becker and Curren used composites in the finals marking a first. Becker's victory made him the first to win Wimbledon with a composite racket and I believe Johan Kriek was the first ever Grand Slam winner with a composite racket (Rossignol at 1981 Aussie Open).

McEnroe switched to the composite Max 200G in 87 or 88, so he wasn't the guy using the wood relic in the 1990 tourney.

It says 1967... that was the year the aluminum rackets started coming out. It definetly wouldn't be Agassi or John McEnroe, considering they played in the same time era. Or Pete Sampras. Possibly Arthur Ashe, but you'll have to check that one.

It has to be one of two players,
John McEnroe played with a Dunlop maxply racket and needed a wooden racket because he volleys with so much touch.
or
Andre Agassi during his retro phase showing respect to the players of old.

It was Bjorn Borg during his comeback. He never made it past the first round of a tournament.
