China has become professional. They have understood the need of Industrialisation along with Agriculture. Also they know it very well that life of people can only be improved if new industries are developed. Those who wants development, can not afford to have enemies and risking their Investments. Making enemies is nothing but wasting time, energy and money at the cost of development and progress.Hence I do not think that China views us as an enemy. They are not fools.

China is our friend and our enemy. The amount of offshoring and outsourcing that takes place in China for the USA is vital to our economy. For this same reason, we are made vulnerable. Plus our ideals clash with those of Chinas. I dont think they are a real threat, as we are the ones boosting there economy. Its kind of a mutual understanding between two rivals.

No...at least they're not our enemy.

The Americans seem to be intimidated by China but that's only because the Chinese have an emerging economy that seems that it will dwarf the US economy very soon. They also have a very productive work force and work ethic.

If China were the enemy.....then Wal-Mart wouldn't stock the shelves with Chinese made product.

the Chinese government, like all sovereign governments, has the interests of itself and its people at heart. The aims and goals of the chinese government are not the same as those of the US government.

Now, under the Bush 'for us or against us' doctrine, that makes them, and every other nation on Earth, a US enemy.

"Enemy" as in "We have declared war on our enemy"? Scarcely, they are one of our biggest trading partners and trading with the enemy is a crime.

Cuba is an enemy. Its about the only country you cannot visit as a tourist or buy anything from - you get slapped with "Trading with the enemy". Which is wild when you consider the US government leases Guantanamo Bay from Fidel. Whats a lease if it isn't trade?

I absolutely think that China is our enemy; in fact, I believe that we will have WWIII with them. I think that Americans have been lulled to the danger from that area of the world, especially since so many of our companies do business with the Chinese. They are "capitalists" only insofar as making money--making money from our pockets.
They have a huge military, nuclear weapons, and millions and millions of people. They have a desire to expand their holdings--both land and human.
I don't know why we are so blind to them. We can't abide by the fact that lil' ol' Cuba is Communist--even tho' it has been better for their people (minus the boycotts by the US), but China is a HUGE nation, with horrible human rights violations, (maybe we don't care about that anymore?? maybe because we're in the same boat??), and a super-strong Communist government, and we deal with them daily!!
(I work for a major retailer, and over half of the merchandise we get in is "made in China".) Where are all those people who ask questions about "communists" when the subject of China comes up??
I think that all of the "fat-cat" moguls who think they have "the system" in their control, by having their manufacturing done by the "cheap labor" in China, reaping the huge profits (that wouldn't be quite so huge if they used American workers...), and laughing all the way to the bank are going to be crying some time in the future when China tries to "nationalize" their businesses!
Be afraid, be VERY afraid.

Of course not. China has historically never sought to expand beyond it's traditional borders. They are our competitor however. As the Chinese economy grows and more free market reforms take place the momentum for expanded personal and civil rights will grow. In the 70's some of us saw Germany as the country that would take our jobs and bankrupt us, in the 80's it was Japan, now it is China. None of that happened then and none of that will happen now

No

I think China is coming around to the idea that captalism is good way to go.
Just be patient.

If they weren't they wouldn't be sitting on North Korea.
Hong Kong would been over run right after the Birts left.
