for my term paper, my thesis is that Early American jazz had a sifnificant impact on cultural and racial boundaries. For the assignment, our thesis' have to be arguable, therefore, they need a counterpoint that you need to prove invalid. unfortunately i cannot think of any counterpoints to my argument.

even though jazz did lead to a greater appreciation of a uniquely "black" music style by a prominently white audience, bands for the most part initially resisted integration. many times you would have an all black big band (who would have to enter through the back door and eat their meals in the kitchen) playing to an all white or an all black audience (never shall the twain mix). until white musicians started to take up playing jazz and then each could only play to there own target audience. your counterpoint would be that many bands would eventually integrate but some might say that that happened after the golden age.
