Butyric acid?

This acid has a putrid odor like rancid butter. If you got som on your hands, how could you remove the odor?

You should add a mild base which will dissolve the butanoic acid, but which itself will not harm your skin. A solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate will do the trick.
