Hey,
I know your pain! Really I do. I have a 17mth old son and he has been sick CONSTANTLY and I am not over exaggerating! He has spent more time in the hospital than at home..without a doubt. It has been colds...ear infections..asthma...they have called it many names. FINALLY after a years worth of tests we got an answer. My son has Larynx and Trachial Malaysia. Look it up. He also my just have a low immune system. See if your doc will give you or you can buy some "infant vitamin drops" They have some Vit. C in it which will help with immune system problems and overall health. Otherwise, make an appt with your doc to evaluate the multiple sickness and see if there is any relation. I wish you all the luck in the world, I know how hard it is! Just keep pushing the docs...if I had any advice for ya thats it! Push the docs till you get your answers!

I have two young children myself one who is 17mths she has also had throat infections and colds and coughs that my other one brings home from school she also has had numerous ear infections so many Ive lost count in the last year since she started school both are fine now thank god but i would`nt worry yourself as long as your little one has a healthy diet plenty of vit C to boost his immune system and plenty of leafy green veg (if won`t eat blend into tasty mash!) i understand how you feel and its hard to see them suffer so much but try not to give antibiotics unless really necessary because they can build up an immunity and they will not work try to let the body fight itself obviously give paracetamol and plenty to drink hot drinks are soothing, if your baby goes to nursery or creche he is probably getting the illnesses from there if not family or friends or even you! its a normal progress while your baby is developing, hope this helps
good luck to u and your baby

Poor baby - those ear infections really hurt. If he was/is formula fed, or if he's in day care, that alone would explain. Apart from all the other problems day care causes emotionally and intellectually, day care babies are sick more than 2x as often as mom raised babies.

Are you around school age children?
Were you a teacher or in a profession where you could have been exposed to a lot of viruses?
Do you take him to publi places like bowling alleys, malls etc?
Ear infections I hear are very common with teething, so are some other symptoms, runny nose etc. It varies by child.

Is he in day care or around other children a lot? Both of my children got sick a lot when they started being around other kids. Their doctor said that it's normal for children to get up to 9-11 colds per year.

When my son was young, he was sick very often also. The doc told me that it is not a bad thing because it helps to strengthen there immune system. He is now 8, and has very very rarely gotten sick. Hang in there, it does get better.

Don't worry this is often an age where babies get ill quite often especially if they are mixing with other children or older siblings.
It will build up his immune system and soon he will be well most of the time instead of the other way round.
