The dissonance resolution theory is a good answer but he misses that people only experience cognitive dissonance if they cannot cope with the conflicting ideas. It is possible to hold opposing ideas. Look up a guy called Montaigne, he famously quoted "The sign of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas."
This concept is used more by philosophers such as montaigne. The cognitive Dissonance Theory is a psychological one.
The easiest way i could illustrate. Have you ever been caught in an argument between two friends who have completely different opinions on a subject but you can see where both are coming from and both have valid points? Conflicting ideas at the same time in your head.
Yes it's possible just not for psychologists!!!!!

Two opposing and consciously thought, thoughts? I think u can't have two at exactly the same time, how would u concentrate? But u can have two very different thoughts straight after one another, but it will still be linked to the one before. You cannot break the chain of thought you have had, as in historically you have had that thought, and then another one leading on from that no matter what it is, and nothing can change that.

it rather is a great cool theory! yet i will in elementary terms parent which you will possibly ask them a chain of questions, besides the fact that if it relies upon very lots on the guy in the event that they're going to or should not be indignant with the help of specific questions... you will possibly ought to ask them something they might discover independent..

Dissonance Resolution Theory:
The theory suggests that 1) dissonance is psychologically uncomfortable enough to motivate people to achieve consonance, and 2) in a state of dissonance, people will avoid information and situations that might increase the dissonance.
so nope....you'll always want to get rid of the conflicting thoughts or stay away from one or both....
