Why is there so much overwhelming racism in the gay community? It seems as though the gay community really fosters a racist mentality whereby White guys are the only desirable choice for partners, and everyone else is basically $hit out of luck, bc if you're not White, you're not attractive. You'd think gays (especially gay men) would be a little more sensitive about issues of prejudice since we seem to be subject to a lot of it, but I get the impression that a lot of gay men are only sensitive about their sexual orientation...when it comes to race, it seems like gay men are just as bad or worse than the straight population. It's sad and pathetic. I've seen a lot of minority gay men basically go along with this racism..it manifests itself in self-racism...they refuse to date guys within their own ethnic groups and end up settling for the dregs of the White population. Am I wrong about this?

Some gay people are racist, but I don't think there are as many as in the "straight" world.
I know lots of guys who have "preferences". Meaning they are attracted to a certain type. Just like straight people have preferences.
I know a lot of dudes who like Asians..blacks, Latins, all kinds. Each individual has their own likes and "whys".

Well was he nice or rude when entered the club... you got to look at all the angels am mixed as well....... Because most people in general are not racist.... so he could have been acting like total douche bag or something... I have seen it happen a lot... no matter who the person is.... Does he have anger black guy syndrome going on or what??? Also am from Canada... its really different here you would love it up here

It's funny...most of the gay black men I know don't particularly want a white partner. But a lot of the gay white men I know tend to go for men "with color" (black, latino, asian, etc).
Myself...I'm an equal opportunity lesbian. I go for bisexual women or lesbians of any race. It's what's on the inside that matters!

you are both right and wrong...there is racism in the gay community, like in the rest of the world's communities...
however I do not think the white guys are necessary the "ideal" for gay men...I think it might be the crowds you are hanging with...if that were true there would be mags like "black inches" and "machismo"

There is a flip side too, pardon the pun.
A lot of ethnic minorities are desired--- but not as people. As sex objects. There are many nasty stereotypes. We all know them. (Asians are hairless, and bottoms, AA's are well hung, Mexicans are macho, etc). There is a real problem in our community.

Many of the gay men I know have a preference...be it an ethnic race or a particular body type (bear, twink, bodybuilder, etc.) Thus is the joy of gay sex. I don't think preference has much to do with racism.
