Like Clint Black sings in his song "Wherever You Go" - it means that you can run from everyone except yourself; you can get drunk or do drugs to try to mask problems, but deep down inside you are who you are, you must deal with it and change if you don't like it.

"Wherever you go there you are
You can run from yourself but you won't get far
You can dive to the bottom of your medicine jar
But wherever you go there you are"
