Im writing a soider letter for school but I cant thing of any older guys names and IdeaS!!

um some names are Grant Henry Betty Horace Sally Clara Dred Belle John um and well if you want an i dea I think you should write to Colonel Shaw he was an Officier of the Massachusetts 54th Regiment during the Civil war I just finished reviewing about him in school he was a great person and to make a little easier and funner you can watch the movie Glory it might be about 20 years old but its really good and really catches the effect that Colonel Shaw had on the Civil war. um... oh and Colonel Shaw'a full name was Robert Gould Shaw it will help you find info on him easier

Most names weren't that different. I had four ancestors fight in the Civil War and their first names were George, William, Eugene, and Eben (OK, this last one is a bit-old fashioned).

You'd be fine with a normal name from today. Otherwise, Biblical names (Noah, Abraham, Moses, etc.) were more common in the early 1800s than today.

BTW: I'm assuming you're talking about the American Civil War. If not, please clarify.
