I think the best songs are themes that bring to mind the movie they're from. That ususally means it's from the score and not an idividual song with words.
Pink Panther, Star Wars, The Godfather, The Magnificent Seven, The Exorcist, Raiders, Jaws, E.T., Bond Theme are great ones.
I've never been a big fan of a signature song woven into the entire score ( such as Heart Goes On in Titanic). I will say that Suicide is Painless from M*A*S*H sums up a lot about the movie and is very fitting as a theme song. Plus when you hear it you know what it's from.

My fave is Neuton Dance from Pointer sisters on Beverley Hills Cop (The song starts when Axel Foley is on the back of the cigarette smuggling contraband lorry and the police give chase.) Check out this great tune @ Itunes enjoy!
