i prefer virgin ,especailly for the broadband virgon does not have sky one but i download the programs i miss from there which is lost so asn't bothered about losing it.
I got a monthly package for £85 but thats a v+(hd and harddrive) box another box in another room all tv channels sports and movies, phone line with free local and national calls anytime and 10mb broadband oh and discount on mobile calling .that was the vip package ,it came in cheaper buying them together from virgin instead of sky tv and bt.
i was already an virgin customer and the boxes where free and the install so dont know if new customers have to pay but sky would've been looking money for my broadband box and the sky+ box and another box upfront

Sky our currently offering a very good deal for TV/Broadband. I'm a Virgin Media customer and losing the extra free channels really sucks. I mean sure you can go and download them but that's kinda not the point.

Also the interface/TV Guides/Interactive menus are really slow on Virgin Media.

The one thing Virgins got going for it is the Broadband service is top notch - never had any problems with it and the speed is consistently good.

It's too early to comment on Virgin medias customer service, but my experience with skys is that it is really crap!

Virgin don't charge for the box and sky does, but it really prefers what channels you want.

virgin media no longer have sky one or any other sky basic channels, we recently switched from sky to virgin media, and within a month switched back the customer service was terrible we had problems from the start they gave us the wrong package and then over charged us and we still aren't sure if its totally sorted I wouldn't recommend them.

well i have Virgin so im biased, depends what your after, with Virgin you get phone/mobile,Tv and Broadband which is unlimited 24/7

with Sky you only get Tv and broadband is limited and must have a BT line, so then your paying BT for the line rental plus calls
then you need to pay extra for sky+

so really its what you want and can afford
