When I first heard this theory a couple of years ago, I treated it like email detritus or forwarded garbage; I stashed it to the back of my mind where it seldom bothered me.
Alas, it has surfaced quite frequently in the past months: I've seen more than a few articles dealing with the subject in prominent magazines such as Time.
It doesn't keep me up at night, but it does tickle and itch a bit.
And, yes, I'm a little worried.
Can someone care to clear it up for me?
Offer a rebuttal to the scientific theories?
Much appreciated!

Well, I wouldn't say it would be 2012. But NASA an asteroid will come dangerously close to the earth in 2030. It may hit us. I'm more worried about this.
Edit: It may actually happen in 2014- veyr close to that theory! http://edition.cnn.com/2003/TECH/space/09/02/asteroid.reut/index.html

According to this same question a day or so ago this alignment has happened several times already. I would be more concerned with the Yellowstone Caldera going off. According to Bible codes this is supposed to erupt sometime in 2009 around September. So, worry about this date first. If the Moon was to; "Go Away" this supposedly would also be very bad for us too. If you were to interpret bible prophecy to the Yellowstone volcano or similar disaster it fits it very well. The Mayan calender might only mean a resetting of the clock to zero etc. I find it really hard to believe any cultures from that far back were so capable. Why then did it take so long for us to get where we are today? It reminds me of some soap operas that might say; "God is now being played by......"

It says on the Mayn calender December 21 2012 is the last day, it ends abruptly thare, But a little check into the folklore tells me that they thouught that something terable may happen on that day, The North and south poles will switch!!! Though it may not seem to profound, Some geoligistst say it has happened before, and The lat time it happened It causesd the last Ice Age. Shure millions will die, But we are like the caocroach, you cant kill us all!!!!

Every so many years, someone predicts the end of the world. The odds are that it isn't going to happen. The trick is to focus on the reasons you may have to keep living. What projects haven't you finished? What goals have you set for yourself that you have yet to accomplish?
Is there anything in this world that you want to see or do before the end comes? Chances are- if you focus on setting goals for yourself and are motivated to achieve them, your deadline will come and go, and if you are doing it right- you won't even notice.
If you accomplish a bunch of stuff between here and then, and the end does come in 2012, at least you did your best, and you can go out knowing that you did it right.
The people who focus on dying, ending, losing by a certain date tend to make their predictions self-fulfilling.

We have seen many dates thrown around of different disasters and things that were suppose to happen but never did. Are you going to let this worry you for the next 5 years? Live your life now, you cannot change what happens in 2012.

According to an ancient Mayan calander, the end of an age will be occurring on December 21st of 2012. That is the winter solstice. I have read several web sites on this and some say that the world is going to come to an end and other sites say that it is the end of an age or cycle and that we will begin another cycle and things will be drastically different. Just type 2012 or Mayan calander into your search engine and you get lots of hits. Read them and decide for yourself. If nothing else, they are interesting reading.
