Is there a quick fix?

The dryer is a Whirlpool 120V..

I'm really not in the mood to pay someone $100 to come and fix it..

Thanks, guys.

It could be a couple of things. It could be the heating element. Those are cheap and easy to replace yourself.

It could also be the thermostat. Those are also pretty cheap.

There's not really a "quick fix." If it's either of those things, you'll have to make a trip to the appliance parts store.

You have a coupole of options. Chances are your element has ended its life. If you have an older dryer, anything older than 10 years old, then buying a newer dryer might be a better option. Older appliances are not as efficient as newer built ones with the energy star approval. Plus, if the element died more things are likely to also break. If the dryer is newer, replacing the element is a better bet. If you are handy, this is probably an easier project for you. If you are not too sure, it would be wiser to call an appliance repair man from a reputable company or someone referred to you by someone you trust. It is not a real expensive fix, but it is better than screwing up and having it catch on fire when you aren't home or worse, when you are sleeping. Good luck!

Go to your local hardware store with the make and model of your dryer and ask them if they can get you a new heating element for it. That most likely is the problem. It's kind of a pain to change out sometimes, but it's worth the effort. It's also a lot less expensive than hiring someone to do it. Ask the people at the hardware store for some insight on fixing it. There is always someone there who knows how to fix the problem.

three items on Whirlpool could be wrong....one is bad element ..two is bad cycling switch or bad high limit...or three is bad safety and if safety is bad then all the others are because the element got to hot ....you can get all these parts at your whirlpool dealer...all three switches less than 30 dollars if bought together..about 7 dollars a piece separately..just be sure to draw pic where each one went and what wires go where...be sure to unplug dryer first...all can be easily reached by removing back cover off of dryer...

To add to what the other two said, If you've moved your dryer lately make sure to check the power cord. One of the wires came off on mine but it still ran and didn't get hot.
