Stand by is only temporary it should be no more than an hour or two because you're still turned on and using power
Hibernate can be as long as you want the computer is effectively shut down and using no power

I don't really get your question cause you can hibernate/standby it when ever you want. They both are ways to say battery power when not using the computer. Hibernate although saves a lot of battery power and acts as if the computer is off. Usually in hibernate mode the computer can last for 1 month or so and then you might have to charge it. Standby although don't last as long, probably less than a couple of days.

new computers are actually made to stay on all the time. it is better to leave it on all the time, if you consistantly are going on and off, you can do more damage than leaving it on. hibernation uses memory on you harddrive, which can if used too much, can cause fragmentation. if you do not use it for more than five hours between uses, then turn it off or go to standby. any less than that i would just close the top so that the screen does not go bad in the meantime.

i in my view imagine that Hibernate takes see you later to get well that i'd besides basically close down and turn it back on at the same time as i'm waiting. Standby mode makes use of more beneficial battery potential, because the computer needs to save powering your RAM so as that it doesnt get erased. you'll oftentimes favor to recharge your computer exceedingly quickly in case you left it on standy, so this continuous fee/discharge cycle will impression your battery existence slightly in the destiny. Hibernate mode copies your RAM contents for your not straightforward stress, so the computer doesnt favor to waste potential conserving the RAM alive. the in undemanding words problem is the time taken to awaken...yet see you later as that's no longer a difficulty to then you definately that's secure to apply hibernate.
