where can i find a good yet free video converter?

i have some videos that are avi format but i want them in mp4 or w/e it is that works with ipods

Xilisoft video converter is an awesome converter which is not free, BUT you can download the free trial, then just go to "enter registration code" in the "help" menu, and input this code into where it says "license key":
2F04-AD18-E71C-6ECD-429C-2BE8- 2D57-C446
Then put anything you want into where it says "Name", and that's it! You have an awesome video converter registered FREE.

windows media maker in xp or if that wont work try looking for something at http://www.magnisiummedia.com
