People are more comfortable with trash because that is the norm. Kindness is foreign to many people. Some people do not respond well to things that are foreign to them, it is easier to keep up the norm.

I really had to think about this for a few minutes. I am not sureif you are speaking in the literal sense or if you are referring to attitudes. Hope my understanding of the question is what you meant so here goes: Inertia is just letting things stay asthey are. I say that tolerating trash (such as bigotry) is sometimes just easier than attempting tochange it so people just "go with the flow" I can not agree to even put kindness and corniness in the same sentence!! Kindness is a strong foundation to build anything on --corniness is a trivial factor. Good luck -k-

What has corniness got to do with it ???

Some people are used to trash, they have never known the bliss of kindness. And if suffering from low self esteem they think that trash is all they deserve, but we all deserve kindness ... it is there for everyone.
good luck.

Sometimes people confuse kindness as a form of weakness or corniness as you say. Being trashy is so common and tolerated today it just shows how shallow people can be and how twisted their values are people are just harsh nowadays. We get what we give its all part of being human

Most people now adays are just concerned with themselves. They are so used to a crappy way of life, that they've forgotten how to be truely human. It takes too much time out of their precious schedules to do something nice for someone else. Most people are worried about others judging them. They do things to look "cool" and forget that being a kind person is cool. Keep in mind that there are still some people who strive for kindness and compassion. We are out there, we're just a little harder to find. :)

In todays society people have learned to be on the defense 24/7 so it is easier to take trash because you know how to respond, with anger and aggression...but how do you respond to kindness? ...especially in these days, people cant be trusted so you have to question the intentions of kindness....

People tend to fear what they do not understand or identify with. This allows others to want to “follow the leader”, and choose the wrong roles that is more than likely passable to the next generation. And that's what keeps it living!
