If you use it daily, just leave it plugged in....I keep mine on all the time, for a year now with no problems.....Its actually hard on electronics to turn them on and off allot. The constant temp changes can weaken solder joints......If you do decide to leave it on, just set the monitor to shut down after 20 or 30 minutes.....
If you only use it once a week, then unplug it........

I turn my Toshie off, when I'm going to be gone for any length of time.. or, at the very least, I'll shut the screen and let it go to standby, butttt, better to just shut down..
problem is, sometimes, you don't realize how long you'll be gone, soooo, usually, shut it down!
