last night, the "battery " light came on, then went back off. It did this several times. When I rebuilt the alternator, I did NOT replace the battery. Should I? Do I have a bad alternator again? What could be the problem?

I actually DID run the battery down to NOTHING...on the interstate. Had to get it towed to a repair shop, where THEY rebuilt the alternator...not me. Sorry!

i agree , advance auto. there is a good chance when your orig. alt. went bad, u ran battery down to nothing and trashed it. But, u can boogie on over to advance and they will chekc out system for u and save u headaches. was it much work to rebuild the alternator and what did it cost u. i usually just buy a rebuilt one.

Go to Auty Zone or a parts house to check the vehicle's battery or if the car runs to get the car checked out then. Then can also test your alternator seperate, in case your car is not running.

For future reference

Get a Haynes Repair Manual at the local Auto Zone or auto parts store in your area. It will troubleshoot and show you how to fix your vehicle. Also on the Auto Zone site has a section for vehicle maintenance
