I just got my cartliage (top of my ear) pierced for my 17th birthday. Its stopped hurting without touching it, and only hurts when i touch it or lay on it. I got it pierced on January 3rd so its been 3 months. I can finally change the ear ring, but I was wondering if I can, when can I take the ear ring out for like a day without it closing up?

The longer the better. You can probably change your jewelry out now, but make sure that the jewelery is new/clean and your hands are clean.

As for closing up, your cartilidge is semi-bone and will never close up. However, the skin around the piercing can. After three months, I wouldn't recommend going without jewelery in for a whole day, but you can try and have to deal with the closed skin.

I think not totally positive though that now if you take it out it will not close up in one day... I have a friend who's had her's pierced for 2 month's and she's taken her's out for a day or two and her's hasn't closed up so... yeah. Good Luck.

Yes. Once you have a piercing it will take awhile before it can close out. Like 1 yr or 2 so you don't have to worry you're fine.
