1st of all Liberals don't like the military (exp.. Sen Kerry). They have to make it look like most of military personnel hate being their even though only a small few speak out against it ( like the one who just wanted free education and that all). This is the reason why they don't understand the military the people who signed the dotted line did it for a purpose to serve and help the country, this stumps Libs to the core.

Many people who "volunteered" were lied to, had no other options for the future, did not know at the time they would be deployed to Iraq, agreed with the war in Afghanistan but didn't know they would be sent to Iraq, etc. Also let's not forget that many of the troops are National Guard, which means they signed up to protect their community in case of emergency, had regular jobs and families and daily lives that have been severely disrupted or ended by being sent to Iraq--many of them three and four times, without the correct period of leave in between and without the proper armor.

If you say you care about the troops, why aren't you outraged at the lack of support this administration has shown to them by still not having uparmored vehicles five years into the war? Why aren't you outraged at the stop loss policies? Why aren't you outraged at the inadequate health care they get when they return home traumatized and wounded?

Did you know that during World War II, General Motors was turning out one plane a week? Why is it that our corporations and our citizens have not been asked to sacrifice? The only ones sacrificing are the military and their families. Does that seem right to you? You probably haven't even tried to conserve gas or sent a care package overseas. Are you showing your support for the troops with that little yellow magnet on your car?

I find your statements to be shallow and not well thought out.

I'm sure some troops don't want to be in Iraq, as some didn't want to be in Vietnam, Germany, or any place else we have been. The difference today is that this is all volunteer. If you thought the only thing you were going to do was see the world and have a good love life, you should have never signed the papers or taken the oath. My oath said I would protect the U.S from foreign and domestic threats. What some think as lies, some of us thought as duty.

lovable little uninformed rant, there...grasshopper. we've adequate terrorists right here at domicile, what with the some distance-suited-wing non secular kooks that administration the GOP and the corporate-funded TeaP who desire to have a THEOCRATIC COUP from interior our political device. i'm a reasonable, with some crispy conservative edges (table manners, social graces) and a liberal's love of social justice. I say the Iraq conflict replace into an unlawful one which became the united states right into a terrorist u . s . (a criminal act for which the Bush/Cheney administration must be held in charge because of the fact the conflict criminals they're). we are no longer the "huge daddy" of the international, exceedingly no longer suited now with the GOP-broken economic device and the some distance-suited-wingers doing their very maximum suitable tochronic this u . s . into everlasting 0.33-international status. I say we ought to consistently get our very own residence to be sure that a transformation, and pulling the relax contingency troops (around 40 5,000 of them) out of Iraq is a clever and needed flow as we glance in the direction of a greater wealthy, safer, and better destiny.

You catalog all liberals as thinking a certain way...Some of us liberals have family and friends over there. Some of our family and friends have voiced their opinion to stay, others to leave. They were employed to be on the military government. Nobody plans on fighting in a war and watching your buddies, young "kids", and others die. Nobody likes being told, "Geeze, I know your term of service is up, but we still need you here. You can't go home". There are both sides to the argument. Make statements for you and yours, don't categorize anyone else.
My brother in law is ready to go back (he has volunteered his unit the last two times) for the third time. I think he's crazy, but I respect him. There are others like him. There are just as many who would rather come home.
We should spend our time making ourselves ready to deal with these soldiers when they do actually come home. Has anyone stopped to think about how these soldiers will reintegrate into our society (where we don't kill on a daily basis) and what type of services will be needed for the PTSD issues that will surely surface? Talk to any active duty "vet" and they will tell you, "These boys are coming back fuc**d up in the head". One of my colleagues told me this. He said,"Look at me, I'm fuc**d up!". We need to be
ready. That is OUR job.

I think everyone understands that the troops wish to be successful in their mission. It is not the troops that define that mission, but their Commander in Chief. If Bush changed his tactics in Iraq, they would follow his redefined mission just as they do the current one, it's their job. They would then begin performing their redefined mission and wish to be successful in that endeavor as well. If their mission were to change, they are smart enough to realize it isn't because they didn't do their job well, but that the powers that be made some bad decisions and needed to adjust those decisions to secure more success. They do not make policy, they carry it out. How hard is it to understand this important difference?

If U.S. troops leave Iraq, terrorists will attack America... so in a way, U.S. troops are indirectly (but at the same time... direcly) protecting our freedom. Let them do their job. Just because I say this, doesn't mean I don't want them to come home either. I have many friends in Iraq right now but they are doing their job... Protecting U.S. freedom.

Hey, some of us volunteered with the understanding we were not going to Iraq, many of us disagree with the moving of the "real" war for which we did volunteer = Afganistan= to make a private Bush war in Iraq... soooo, i don't know to whom you have been speaking but we are many who do not agree with your statement and find it to be false and offensive.

Why don't people like you understand that they military is a tool to do the will of those who govern? They don't make the decisions or call the shots, they follow orders. And those who have made an intelligent assessment of the situation say it's time to leave. The will of the public is that we should go, also.
