i am sorry to read this about your brother. that is really very awful.
critical means that his condition wounds are of a type that it is about as serious a problem as it can be . that does not mean that he will not live it does mean there is chance he may die. however when someone is put in critical care it also means that the person is getting the highest priority care meaning he is being watched constantly by at least one nurse often more . further more the doctors in the hospital know that should one of the nurses see that he needs some more care from a doctor they must come that instant to see him
this all means that he is getting the most attention of all the people in the hospital at that time . well the people in critical care are getting the greatest amount of care and attention that is humanly possible nothing is left out and no one else in the hospital could get better care regardless of who they are.
i hope you take the time to visit your brother if possible and i certainly hope you ask Jesus Christ to help your brother and the medical staff to manage this situation as well as they can with his help. One more thing remember that God said "vengence is mine" that means that you must not under the command of GOD go out and try to harm or kill the people who did this . you must leave all the punishment up to GOD. if you ask GOD for help with your brother and at the same time you think you will go out and harm the one who shot him God is much more likely not to help you .

Critical condition means that he is very bad and may die.

The Doctors will work to fix what they can , stop the bleeding and that stuff , and will monitor his condition continually for a while. If he is critical he would be in the intensive care unit or the operating rooms.

As he recovers they will change his condition status.

The Doctor should be able to say if there is any paralysis and/or spinal injury.

There are a lot of things that could have been damaged depending on just where he was shot and with what type of ammunition. The dangers apart from th initial wounds are blood clots and secondary infections and breathing problems from infection.

You should be able to get updates on his condition at least every hour by phone but you need to organise that at the hospital. They will only report his condition to immeadiate family, like his wife or mother and father.

I hope he does OK and gets better.

I don't know if this is a BS question, or not, so I'll treat it as real.

What we mean by critical condition, is that we don't know if the patient will survive.

Stable, but critical means things are looking better, but survival is not guaranteed.

Stable means the patient appears to be on the way to a successful recovery, but still no guarantees.

If this is real, and your brother is not some gang or criminal scum punk, then I wish you well.

He probably still has the bullets in him (whether they are shotgun pellets or regular bullets). They don't usually remove them unless they are as risk to hurting something. Critical Condition means that they are in a very serious condition and they are healing and usually are not doing very well. If they are upgraded sometime soon then it means that they are recovering well, but if they get downgraded then it means they are going downhill and they are having trouble recovering.

The word "critical" means that your family has come to a fork in the road, a time of decisions for your bro and you. Given luck, he may still be in a wheelchair the rest of his life. What will your family do to support him?

In a hospital they have several different units, ICU which is Intensive Care Unit for the most severe cases, CC which is Critical Care Unit for modest to severe cases, most likely your brother will be fine, CC is not good, but sounds like he will make it if he is not in ICU.

It means he's not doing well.
If they say critical but stable, it means he has a better chance of coming out of it.

It means he is seriously injured and that he might not make it .
be prepared , he may die. one gunshot is bad and he has three in his back, it may mean that his spine was hit or his internal organs were damaged. go to the hospital and be with him...it may be your last chance to do so.

It means 'it is VERY SERIOUS' you need to see him, and take the other family members and check with the doctor as to the outcome of his surgery to remove the bullets.

Best of luck to you and your family.

It probably means he will never walk again. But I'm not a doctor.
