Unlike many of the people on here - I think you always know. From your very first orgasm - you know! It's easy, what do you think about when you masturbate?
It seems many young people go through the "I'm Bi" phase as the first step toward being gay - I guess it's a little easier that way. But it's not something that's going to go away and sex with girls isn't going to change anything either. I used to think the more I "did" girls the easier it would become and I would be "CURED". IT DIDN'T work!
Don't deny the person you are, but don't rush into anything either. At 17 it may be better for you to come out a little later (if you are gay). You have plenty of time and you will be fine!!!

Coming to terms with your sexuality is an ongoing process, not usually something that can be immediately decided. The majority of gay/bi people are BORN that way. Some people KNOW that is how they are from an early age while others may not know until they are in their middle ages.
I know a woman that had a very happy life with a man, kids and home. When he died, she knew she needed to make friends & socialize to keep busy. She joined a church softball league & fell in-love with another woman--shocking herself more than her kids! She felt like she had 'come home' when in this woman's arms--a spiritual connection. A different yet as deep a love as she had had with her husband. It was supplying a deep need that he never could have.
I think you shouldn't rush to label yourself. For some people, they need to explore different things and are not gay--but are somewhat bisexual or just sensual.
Most gay people are brought up as heterosexual, not homosexual. Even some gay parents may lean more towards their kids being straight because society is so prejudiced towards them.
Love and sex has nothing to do with sex, color, or religion. It's the person inside that body we care for.

Tough one to answer but at your age I am not so sure you need to label yourself.
Enjoy life and accept the feelings you have, just be cautious on the feelings you act on and always have self respect.
Learn about safe sex and be careful.

just out of curiosity. do gays feel sexual attraction and this is what draws them, or do they just like to pal around with the same sex? i have heard(probably wrong) that the average gay will have 2,000 sexual encounters in their lifetime. if its anywhere close to true, it would lead you to believe its all about sex. are you feeling sexual attraction(want to have sex) or what. i guess im asking instead of answering. sorry
