I was just wondering, what is it about ? Is there a story behind it, one of the band member's old girlfriend or something ? Or did they just want to write it ?

It takes place in WWII and its about the band members being in a millitary dance to start with and than the go to war back in the dance war and than Mikey dies(biggest part) cause ray cant save him(people hated him for not saving him) well the meaning of it is the fear of loss and that "The worst way to lose someone is to war, because all you get is a letter in the mail." - Gerard Way in interview about 3 Cheers

This song to me is about a person loosing a love one. It's a very emotional song that makes me think about all the people someone loves and fears loosing. also it can be interpreted about loving someone who died. and not quite wanting to let go yet. how u feel when they first die "all the things that u never ever told me, all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me"
its about never being able to stop hurting from the death "all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me"

the song the ghost of you is about Mikey dieing and about loss like what would happen if mikey died gerard would be screaming and crying
