DUH! they weren't National Park sites when the battles were fought.Historians created the parks to remember the battles in history.

They made them National Parks AFTER the battles happened so the site can be remembered.

I think they made those sights National Parks after the fact, in honor to the battles fought there.

I think because National Park sites tend to be big, and a lot of room is needed for a major battle.
