I am actually running 600 mhz in it right now with a 20gb and a 40 gb hd. I am aware it isn't worth it so please think of this as a trivia question. I have newer computers so No i am not needing to scrap it and buy a newer one. thanks!

The version of windows has little to do with how fast a processor you can use, what you need to do is look up the support information for your motherboard, you will probably need to know at least the model number and manufacturer(which is not Gateway) of your motherboard.
