it's true that in south africa where debeers digs so many diamonds they cut the hands off of those that steal. however, now there is no longer any cause for that.

that is because REAL diamonds are able to be manufactured. it is just that they are not dug from the ground. but they are made of carbon, just like real diamonds, as well as subject to the exact same pressure that made originals.

GI certificates, which are laser certification numbers on a diamond, tell if the diamond was taken out a mine or made synthetically. each have exactly the same properties except for price. at least nobody's hands have gotten cut off yet for the synthetics!
