DNA replication or DNA synthesis is the process of copying a double-stranded DNA molecule.
so after copying the original still remains which is 2 strands.

A DNA strand has two 'strands' of complimentary nucleotides. When DNA replicates itself you end up with two identical DNA molecules, each with 2 complimentary strands.
