I believe you mean "recessive" gene.
A recessive gene is a gene that is not expressed unless both alleles are recessive.
For example: If the gene for 'tallness' is dominant and the gene for 'shorthness' is recessive, an individual with TT is homozygous for tallness (both alleles are dominant) and the person is tall (phenotype). If a person is Tt for tallness, then the dominant trait "T" will be expressed as the phenotype 'tall' but this individual 'carries' the recessive trait for shortness and can pass it on to their offspring. If the individual is tt (both recessive alleles) then this individual will be short (phenotype) and can only pass on a recessive allele during reproduction.

You probably mean "recessive." A recessive gene is a gene that contains the information for an organism to have a certain trait, but it is not always expressed because the gene for a different, contrasting trait is "dominant" over it.
For example, let b be a recessive gene for blue eyes, and let B be a dominant gene for brown eyes. Remember that genes always come in pairs. Any person with BB or Bb would have brown eyes, because B is dominant. Only a person with bb would have blue eyes, because b is recessive and can only be expressed when no dominant genes for the trait are present. A person with Bb could later pass the b on to his or her offspring, so the brown-eyed person could have a child with blue eyes, provided his or her spouse also carries the recessive b gene.

A recessive gene is a less common trait. If there is any dominant present then the dominant trait masks the recessive trait and the recessive trait is not shown.
A recessive gene is represented by a lower case letter.
In order for the recessive characteristic to be shown there must be two recessive genes (aa rather than Aa)

A recessive gene is a gene that is not dominant. For example, if your mother has brown eyes and your father has blue eyes, it is likely you have the recessive gene for blue eyes even though you have brown like your mother. It is uncommon, but you'll see children of parents who both have brown eyes, brown hair with a child with say, red hair and blue eyes. That's because both parents had the recessive gene that became dominate in their child.

This is a gene that does not express itself in the presence of another dominant one. Take for instance the gene for blue eyes. If someone has both a gene for blue eyes and one gene for bown eyes, then the person will have brown eyes. To have blue eyes generally require to have BOTH genes for blue eyes.
The blue eye gene is then called "recessive".
