The HX is an older model Civic that featured a continuously variable transmission and an LX trim level.
the DX is "bare bones" manual transmission, roll up windows, no keyless entry, no air conditioning. Some of the newer model years had an automatic transmission available. air conditioning was available as a dealer added option
the LX is the middle of the line; power windows, power mirrors and power door locks, manual or automatic transmission and air conditioning but no VTEC engine or power sunroof. Remote keyless entry was available as an option on earlier models and standard on the 2005 and up LX
EX has the VTEC and more power; it adds a power sunroof and keyless entry.
hope that helps

hx has absolutly no features not even a radio this is the lowest model and ex is the fully loaded model ie sunroof air power everything and if it a 2 door coupe or hatchback then you would have the si which is fullyloaded but with an even faster engine and only comes in manual tranny

Not 100% on this but ill give u my best shot.
DX - Basic model with little options
LX - Basic model with more options then DX
EX - I belive that is the extreme model as in bigger motor way more options then either dx or lx
HX - Im not sure on this one but im suspecting that its a hybrid version
Hope this kinda helps but like i said im not 100% on all of em.
