First, I have no personal experience in this area. I am not now nor have I ever been a rapist. I am addicted to certain crime shows most of the ones I am interested in are real cases, not dramas. That said, here goes.

It seems to me that a common thread runs through most rape situations. Specifically rape is NOT about sex. It is about power, control, manipulation and/or humiliation. Serial rapists typically start as peeping toms and progress from there through stealing personal item like panties, bras, stockings or other similar items. They progress to breaking and entering. Then the perpetrator actually commits the first rape leaving the victim alive. And finally, the rape accompanied by the killing of the victim.

If a man is abused as a boy this sort of behavior, although not guaranteed, is certainly possible. Boys raised by single mothers seem to be represented frequently in the serial rapist category. It seems to be a delayed action aimed at mother or some other female who spent their time humiliating the boy. The man is essentially damaged merchandise and is striking out at women in general as a way of exercising the power and control denied him as a boy.

That sounds like a bunch of "touchy feely" stuff to me. IMO there is no excuse for rape; it is a violent crime and should be severely punished. In a lot of rape cases I would not rule out the death penalty. For the most part I am much more interested in protecting society from criminals than I am in understand the criminal mind. I base this attitude on the fact that we have people in society who have had problems in their lives and still manage to function.

There it is, such as it is, my understanding of rape. I hope that is what you are looking for and I also hope it helps in some small way. Good luck on your story.

I would guess a serial rapist. They might have different motives. One being that a woman they were obsessed about when they were younger and could never have. It could be some fantasy girl or some porn star etc. The more obsessed they become thinking about them the more likely they would be driven to fulfill the fantasy with those who look like her or act like her. Many who use prostitutes might ask for them to act, look and dress a certain way. I would start with fetishes and profiling especially from stories from prostitutes. Those who cannot afford a prostitute might then be more likely to rape instead.

The one thing I know for sure is that rape is never about sex, it as all about power. Someone having total power over someone else.
