no. no person convicted of committing a felony is allowed to own guns or any other type of arms such as grenades, missle launchers, AK-47s, and the like. it doesn't matter when the felony was committed and it doesn't matter how long ago the felon served his time.

the law states, rightfully so, that the convicted felon has no right to bear arms, anywhere. that makes perfect sense to me, because:

time and time again, we see felons coming out of prison that are NEVER rehabilitated back into society. they commit crimes again, and if caught, are given stiffer penalties.

they commit crimes against fellow inmates in prison too. they make weapons in secret and they even kill fellow inmates.

just take a peek at what the aryan brotherhood members that are in prison do to blacks! and they are ever powerful, the most respected (by other criminals) convicts inside of the prisons. do you know that john gotti got protection by approaching the aryan brotherhood to protect him in prison?

now then, why should such stong, mean, hateful, spiteful, terrorizing and frightening prisoners, convicted felons, EVER be allowed to bear arms? if so, there could easily be an overthrow of our government because they believe that their type of nazi living is righteous.

the 2nd amendment to the constitution stays in place just for that particular reason: so that the citizens of our great country have the right to bear arms so that they may fight and kill members of some maniacal rebel group that attempts to overthrow the government--and subject us to their own brand of law.

no, felons cannot get guns, not legally. who should have a gun that would use it to hurt others or to take our rights away from us? felons are never to be trusted. personally, i wish they'd all be put to good use fighting insurgent terrorists in iraq and elsewhere in the middle east: let them pay for their crimes by becoming model citizens.

They guns would have to be locked up in such a manner that the felon has no ability to access them.

I do believe people should be able to own guns..... No matter what... I mean look at people in the country, if you mess up... They shoot you... So it all works out.
