What do you mean "we." Iraq is Bush's fiasco.
If "we" had our heart and soul into it, Iraq would have been settled years ago. If "we" felt we were at risk because of that tiny little country whose only crimes was to call us dirty names, "we" would have joined the army by the millions just to wipe them out.
There is no "we" in Iraq.

We are the land of the free, because of the brave.
If we were fighting an army, this would be easy, like some
of our other wars. But, This is entirely different because
all the people who are terrorists are just that.....people.
They don't wear a uniform nor protect their innocent.
They are just killers who kill armies, women, children,
and even themselves (suicide bombers), so it's a much
different war for our soldiers. This makes it much, much
harder as their terrorists may hide in peoples houses,
in public buildings, schools, hospitals and places that
brave armies would never go to fight. So, it takes a lot
longer to get to them without being blamed for killing
their "citizens". They teach their children to handle guns
and how to kill when they are very small. They tell them
we are the Infidels and need to be killed. The US does not
think this way. We value the innocent. Terrorism is not a
slogan......................it's the real thing and a horrible way of
life. We could never have peace with terrorists still operating.

We are not at war with Iraq (yet). I do think that we are not doing what we initially went in to do, because we would have been out already.
You could consider me a "liberal", although not a hippie, definitely Pro-Gun, and confused over the the real undisclosed reasons of this war with insurgents. It should be clear that no matter how many "top commanders" etc we take out, there will always be one more to take his place!
Some soldiers want to stay there, and others want to leave. It is a dangerous job. Personally, If we can't do any good there, I think we should exit quickly. I support the soldiers over there and it is a shame how many of us back here have lost our ability to be supportive, bickering and squabbling over stupid sh*t that is unimportant.
In addition, unless we are willing to become those types of people who we label as terrorist (cunning, ruthless, and indiscriminate), we will never "win" our battle over there. Which would you want? What good can come from "getting even"? We need to take care of our own people first.

That is what happens when you don't fight to win. Just imagine if we had rules of engagement in WWII like we had in Vietnam and Iraq. How would the battle of Monte Cassino turned out?

And for those poor ignorant soles who have no idea what I am speaking about, Monte Cassino was an ancient monastery, that was a stronghold for the Nazis. Rather than give into political correctness, the United States bombed the daylights out of the place. In Iraq, we are not allowed to attack Mosques, even if they are terrorist strongholds. Is there any doubt why this war has dragged on?

Exactly... which is why we should go to war with Iran, a country with an actual military. I'm sure that will work out.

We are not at war with Iraq. The Iraqi Army, US-trained, outnumbers US troops 3-to-1 and are our allies. They are beginning to take the lead in operations against terrorists. In Iraqi Kurdistan there is a token force of less than 100 US troops (I know the exact number but will not reveal it).

You've got it wrong. We're not at war with Iraq. We're at war with terrorists who have infiltrated Iraq.

Yup, you got it! Unfortunately for the people in power to come to this realization will take hundreds of billions $, and possibly thousands of soldiers lives.
