I think it is safe to travel to Lebanon...it's as safe as being anywhere these days...You never know what will happen any where in the world so do what you want to do and go where you want to go.
I was just at the airport picking my Mom at 6:45 pm 6 planes landed at the same time...and more are coming every minute...so I think it's safe cuz people are coming back and the weather is getting better.
Good Luck on whatever you chose

I can identify with you. I'm planning on moving to Lebanon this summer, but all i can tell you is: nothing is sure. Things can be safe now, and not safe this summer, or vice-versa.
I don't think anybody can give you a really stable answer to this question. All you can do for the moment is read the news at least once a week to know how things are going, and right before the summer, depending on the news, you can either buy or not buy yourself a ticket.
And, make sure you define to yourself what is "safe" and what is "unsafe". Will one bomb in the faraway mountains of Feraya stop you from travelling to Tripoli? Or will tents in Downtown Beyrouth? How about a protest in the city of Tyr?

I really wouldn't advise it.
The Middle East has some beautiful places (I've spent time there) and I understand missing it. But a friend of the family had two children stuck there this past winter; they have a second home there and had thought it would be safe for the children (they are originally from Lebanon). It wasn't. Acts of war occurred in town and the children ended up trapped in the mountains--in the house--without being able to get out and in fear of not being able to use their phone or contact relatives. I will tell you, it was frightening for the family. It all worked out okay but this is why I say I really wouldn't advise it at this time.
The environment is too volatile. However, you can check with government advisory guidelines and make your decision from there as well. Usually they have a pretty good sense of the fluctuating political situation.

I agree with shrinking violet.. STOP talking about going to Lebanon. I have been there just 1 year before now.....and I'll not been able to go this year...so......I'll become crazy thinking about it....
But go without doubt about it. If you can and really wish it........do it. Live the present, without think about tomorrow,
In any other place can happens something to you..so .....why to think that things only happen in Lebanon??
Enjoy your time in Lebanon this summer.....for me too!!!
