I know I would like to go to medical school, however, i am having a hard time trying to chose what i would like to do. I would also like to know details about various majors. Such as the gpa and sat/act requirements, level of difficulty, years of total study, etc. I am in high school and i would like to get serious about deciding a major. Thanks.

Medical schools do not have majors like undergraduate schools. You are not going to choose what your specialty will be until you graduate with your MD and then apply to residencies in surgery or psychiatry or whatever.

Anesthesiology is a persicion based high paying career that has you take people very near death and keep them there. Psychaitry is a well paying career that deals with deep inner fealings and helping people cope with them. If your good with people, and happy to deal with others problems, choose psychiatry. If your willing to put in a lot of hard work, and allways be perfect in what you do, but not relate to people, and work with some very disfigured people, then choose Anestheisiology. All other issues are secondary.

Don't declare a major too soon. Take all of the upper level classes that you can possible enroll in high school. Try job-shadowing and your own research in to these occupations. Consider what each will demand of you and how much of yourself you are willing to give. You will need a great GPA mixed with extensive extra-curricular and civic activities. You cannot just belong; you must be a documented active participant. Your SAT must be outstanding and your MCAT must top that. Good luck!

Well, as a recent graduate I would tell you to go into Anesthesiology because it will be easier to get a job in that field. I know people who have Psychiatry degrees, and they're not Psychiatrists.
