I always seem to feel tired, (to the point were I could fall asleep in seconds if I closed my eyes) right after dinner. It's no particular food that does it, just anafternoon meal usually. Also I get this need to sleep when I'm doing something such as putting on makeup or sitting on the bus. Anyone else have anything like this. Th doctor is baffled x

I had blood tests which ruled out a lot of things like diabetes, thyroid problems etc. It's not that bad just annoying when the urge to sleep comes over me

I always feel tired right after lunch.
This is because the body is busy digesting the meal. You can really benefit from a quick nap after a meal, it is just difficult to do this at work!
As for when you are putting on make up or sitting on the bus, you may just be tired. Try getting into a regular sleeping pattern and cut out alcohol and caffeine for a while.
Or you may have narcolepsy...

I know that rice makes you tired after eating so does a bowl of spaghetti. I'm always tired as well i haven't been feeling well in months I've had blood tests and urine tests and its all good, but i still get exhausted real easy. It could be a mental thing you know like stress, I've got anxiety and depression so that doesn't help. Maybe try taking a women's multivitamin every morning. don't know if that helps but girls have trouble with low iron levels quite frequently, it must be something to do with the menstrual cycle and the hormones, that's why i kind of suggested a women's multi. I don't think there is anything seriously wrong. Take care and you'll be fine.

How do you feel in yourself? I have had depression periodically over the years and if feeling stressed or under pressure have an overwhelming desire to sleep. Most afternoons I can happily nap too (children depending!) I am starting to realise it's my brains way of dealing with my mental state of mind but annoying none the less. other obvious things are too much caffeine/sugar in the mornings that lead to drops in body sugar levels and heavy carb meals thst overload your body and use a lot of energy to digest. Less bread usually helps.

How many carbs in your meals? They will make you sleepy. Go for high fiber, lean meat, vegetables and fruits. I am a teacher who sees this happen all the time. My class right after lunch looks like they all could use a nap. They load up on pizza, chips and sugary snacks at lunch and then come to me like zombies.

I get the same problem, when you eat your body uses energy to digest your food, more so if your already tired then the affects can by magnified to point that you want to just fall asleep. the only way to combat this affect is to avoid consuming large amounts of food at once and to eat smaller amounts little and often. hope that helps cinderella zzzzzz zz
