well in both the cases of boyfriends beating up their girlfriends, i would demand them to stop. If they don't i would take it to the cops. and if the girlfriends are beating up their bfs, i would do the same thing. well, i would definitely step in when kids are bullying someone, also i would take the kid aside later on, when he is alone and tell how it could affect him and how he can defend himself or tell a bigger authority like a grade teacher or something. wel if the taxi driver's a racist, he wouldn't hav me on the car, cause' i'm an indian.

With verbal abuse between adult peers, I would let them work it out. Women are responsible for not allowing bad boyfriends to rule them. In the case of the kid being bullied, I would pull rank as an elder. I would call the police if there was physical abuse or even a well-matched fight between equals. Women are not entitled to beat their men in public. That is called equality. If I felt safe to do so - for example, in a large crowd where a word might make others speak up - I might yell for them to stop hitting. In the taxi, I would tell the taxi driver that airing such views to me is not professional, and later write a letter to his company.

In the park:
1) I would confront him with a "Hey, what do you think you're doing?" and then, only if necessary, contact the authorities.
2) I would do similar to #1, confront them. remind them that they are in a park where there are little children and no one needs to hear that, especially little kids.
3) Contact the authorities. I don't think it would be smart to take on a four person fight by myself.
4) Step in, definitely. I've been there.

In the taxi:
Tell him that it's not very nice to be talking trash about other people. Then purposefully maintain an awkward silence the rest of the trip.

People always say what they would and wouldn't do in so many situations, but you really don't know what you would do unless you are in the situation and it is really happening to you. They always say that the perfect parents are the ones without kids. I can say I would always stick up for what is right, but I don't know if I will feel in danger if I am faced with that situation, and life preservation is number one in my book. I can tell you that I have let people who make racial jokes know that I am not a racist person, and that I am offended by racial comments made.
