No, the first race of the season won't mean much in about a month. Some teams are behind schedule but things are only going to get tougher for Ferrari. The field is wide open, don't count out Red Bull with Adrian Newey designing their cars. As soon as they hit their stride it is going to get much more competitive. But you are correct, Ferrari is for real even without Shumacher.

Ferrari is off to a good start, though with Massa's gearbox issues, there is clearly some work to be done. And Ferrari will still have the challenge of improving since the rest of the field is not going to stand still.
So it would be silly to consider them unstoppable! Even if they raced off to a 1-2 finish leaving the rest of the field a lap back, you wouldn't be able to consider them unstoppable after but one race.
Mclaren look very good - I am very impressed with the effect Alonso seems to have had in getting everyone there pulling in the same direction. And Hamilton looks like the real thing too! They are already ahead in the constructor's chase, and should be a constant factor in the hunt for race wins,
BMW looks good, though still in need of a little improvement. But considering how far they've come in the last year, it seems likely that they will become a regular fixture on the podium and maybe more.
The field looks a little thin after that, but there is potential from many corners. But with Australia now out of the way, Ferrari has shown they have a good car with a pair of drivers that can win, and the team is working well. But it's very much a race at the moment and they are only leading by a small amount.

It will take time for all of the new teams to gel together. I think that eventually Schumacher's reduced involvement with the team will catch up with Ferrari. Kimi is a good driver, maybe even great, but he is no Michael.
I know that Schumacher is still involved with the team, but as an adviser, I doubt he spends as much time with the team and cars to really know what is going on with them.

It is too early to tell, but when Kimi said that he didn't have to push the car, that should be an ominous warning to the competition. If the Ferrari stays reliable, I could see that Raikkonen could take the championship. I think that Mclaren are hit and miss. Let's not talk about budget, that has nothing to do with winning (Toyota). It is about efficiency with your resources and development, also about strategy. Ferrari has written the book on this. They might not be the strongest at every track but they always have a chance of winning. I can't always say that about the other teams. I know, I used to be a Mclaren fan until Kimi switched over.

Actually, Schumacher is still around as an Advisor to Ferrari and he is still a big influence to the team success..They will win the team title no doubt and the individual title to Raikonnen as long as he doesn't fumble during racing. He has a good package unlike last year with McLaren.
Massa lack experience but he will have good fight with Alonso and Fishicella...

Ferrari has been the example for all the teams on how is that F1 technology should be developed. They are the pioneers on that area but that does not means that the students could not win over the master.
