PMS= Premenstrual Syndrome.

[Premenstrual syndrome: A combination of physical and mood disturbances that occur in the last half of a woman's menstrual cycle after ovulation and normally end with the onset of the menstrual flow. Physical features of the premenstrual syndrome (PMS) include breast tenderness and bloating. Psychological changes include anger and depression.

Monthly chemical changes may be responsible for PMS. The chemical changes may involve sex hormones, neurotransmitters, and opioid peptides.

PMS can be mimicked and must be distinguished from other disorders. The most helpful diagnostic tool for PMS is a menstrual diary. Treatment of PMS includes exercise, dietary changes, emotional support of family and friends, and medications. The medications for PMS include diuretics, pain killers, oral contraceptives, drugs that suppress ovarian function and antidepressants. Abbreviated PMS.]

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a group of symptoms linked to the menstrual cycle. PMS symptoms occur in the week or two weeks before your period (menstruation or monthly bleeding). The symptoms usually go away after your period starts. PMS can affect menstruating women of any age. It is also different for each woman. PMS may be just a monthly bother or it may be so severe that it makes it hard to even get through the day. Monthly periods stop during menopause, bringing an end to PMS.

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) (also called Premenstrual Stress or Premenstrual Tension) is a collection of physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms related to a woman's menstrual cycle.
While most women (about 80 to 95 percent) of child-bearing age have some premenstrual symptoms, women with PMS have symptoms of "sufficient severity to interfere with some aspects of life". Further, such symptoms are predictable and occur regularly during the two weeks prior to menses. The symptoms vanish after the bleeding starts. About 14 percent of women between the ages of 20 to 35 get so affected that they must stay home from school or work.

Most women with premenstrual syndrome experience only a few of the problems. The most common symptoms are: [5] [6] [7]

* Weight gain from premenstrual water retention
* Abdominal bloating
* Breast tenderness
* Stress or anxiety
* Depression
* Crying spells
* Mood swings, irritability or anger
* Appetite changes and food cravings
* Trouble falling asleep (insomnia)
* Joint or muscle pain
* Headache
* Fatigue (medical)
* Acne
* Trouble concentrating
* Wanting to be alone
* Body temperature increase
* Worsening of existing skin disorders, and respiratory (eg, allergies, infection) or eye (eg, visual disturbances, conjunctivitis) problems

It's a period of time(no pun intended) that you need not make the females in your life angry. The term means Pre Menstrual Syndrome. I am very sure that if you would have asked any female in your life they probably would have answered it better than any of us. LOL Take care honey
