Its a nicer way to say "deceased father". I use it all the time, my dad died when I was a year old, so I use that term all the time.

A late father is a father who has deceased or has passed away. When you refer to someone as late ( late husband, or late mother for example) it means that person is dead.

Generally when someone refers to a person as late they mean that that person is dead. Late father would mean dead father in this case.

Late refers to a person that has passed away. For example, when someone says "my late husband" it means their husband has died. If you say "late father" it means the father has passed away.

depends on how you are referring to him. It could mean that he is late to be somewhere or it could mean that the father has passed away.

"Late" refers to the fact that they're deceased. So "Late Mother" would be their dead mother and so on...
