I put 1040 on the hinges to keep my bedroom door from squeaking. Now, it closes by itself. how do I fix this? Should I remove the pin and don't put it in so far? Thanks!

How can it not be plumb/level when it worked fine before I sprayed 1040? that makes no sense.

Remove the pins one at a time, then place each on a block of wood, take a hammer and put a bend in the middle of the pin. Reinsert, tap down with a hammer.

Repeat for the other 2 pins. The door will stay open now.

I have had some success curring this issue by removing the hinge pin that holds the two pieces of the hinge together, and then bending the pin ever so slightly so that it is no longer perfectly straight. Reinsert the pin and it may provide enough tension to keep the door in place. I would try this before moving on to more drastic measures.

The door is likely out of level or out of plumb. If you level and plumb the door your problem will be corrected, but that takes a bit of work.
