how can i change a silly text that comes up on my screen before windows cuts in?

its a windows 98, all i want to do is change it appearance

you go onto

microsoft word
& then theres a bar at the top

with writing names
you click on to it
& change the writing to something more plain

There's a file called logo.sys that by default has the windows logo to display while booting. This might have been changed, and can be restored from your windows CD

Not sure what your question is, but the stuff that comes up before windows starts is your computer POST (basically computer self-diagnostic as it starts loading) and the loading information.

Because this is pre-OS stuff, it is not really changeable.
