i want to get a hampster how much do they cost? how much care do they acutally take? is there any problems with having a hampster?

From a petstore, hamsters usually cost anywhere from $9 to $20 depending on the breed. Then you have to think of a good cage(an all metal cage is the best to keep them from chewing their way out), one big enough can cost about $30 or $40. Then they need a water bottle and food dish, something to hide/sleep in, bedding, chew toys, a wheel. You usually end up spending about $60 or more for a good set-up. Once you get the, set up, their up keep isn't expensive. Just the cost of food, new chews and fresh bedding.
Hamsters tend to get wet tail easily, and they usualy don't come back from it. Sometimes you can end up with a hamster that just wont interact with you and there's nothing you can do about that. The best type of hamster to get to prevent this is a black bear, hunny bear, calico or tortoise shell. They are usually more expensive and they get bigger than the other breeds but they usually stay clamer and make the better pet.
If you're not 100% set on a hamster though, I would recommend a pet rat or maybe a guinea pig. They are more docile and interact better with people. Either waym you should go to a pet store or breeder and handle all of them and find out exactly how much you're going to be spending for each before you make a decision....hope this helps...feel free to email me if you have more questions...

Any pet is a responsibility. Hamsters do not cost much but you do need all the accessories to go with the pet. The cage, food, water dispenser, the lining of the bottom of the cage, and some toys. If you feel you can handle the responsibility that comes with pet ownership then get one. If this sounds like too much work for you then do not get one.

the need a cage which can be $10-20 depending on its size, you could get a better deal by buying a wire cage or an aquarium from a thrift store, and they need their cage cleaned about once a week. males stink females are more tidy. i let my hamster run around in her ball every now and then, and she doesn't really like to be held. provide lots of care and they make great pets.

Not so hard , a hamster is like 7 or 8 dollars , they just need to be feed , give them water , clean their cage or aquarium and a little affection . It's easier than ever and can be a very cute and nice per . You should have one ...

hamsters cost about $8(not including cage and needs which you will also need to buy), depending what pet store. they are very low care pets, and to me they are mean. if you don't spend time with them A LOT then they get mean. and it's hard to spend time with them since they are asleep in the daytime. even though i have heard of nice hamsters, all the hamsters i have had have been mean and nasty :0
i personally prefer gerbils, and gerbils are cleaner than hamsters :) people who have never had gerbils always say hamsters are "better", bcuz hamsters have the popularity that rightly belongs to gerbils :)

not sure about price but all 2gether when u buy it , the cage, bedding, food, vitamins, dish, water bottle, a ball for it to run in it costs about $200.00
ps: do NOT buy it from petco i bought my guinea pig there he died @ the age of 1

TRUST ME!!! You do NOT want a hamster!!!! They are nocturnal and they stay up ALL night playing on their STUPID little wheel things!!! They STINK! If don't clean the cage EVERY day!!!!!

You have to keep it clean and pay good attention or the will get mean or sick.
