in my experiance, some people do it because they have problems with getting attention! people with low self-esteem are usually the ones who blame everything on everybody else and cannot see that the problem is in them a lot of times. but I have heard a lot of people blaming themselves for everything and it was just their way of getting attention. still, I think it's better than the people who blame it on everyone else. i have learned that the people blaming everything on themselves sometimes (I cannot speak for all of them, probably each has their own reasons) just feel lonely and need the attention. it's not a bad thing, it's usually just the feeling that nobody pays them any attention.

they usually have low self esteem and it's been there for a very long time. Small children have no way of figuring out that sometimes bad things happen to good people. Therefore they tend to blame themselves for something bad that happened to, or between daddy and mummy, or to themselves. The child becomes the man; our early childhood experiences are very deep rooted, and I'm not sure if it's ever possible to completely reverse the effects of negative experiences. So if starts in early childhood, it's likely it will become the habit of a lifetime.

Likely because they were blamed for everything as a child. Childhood patterns are ingrained in our brain as we get older unless we make a conscious effort to erase them and start over. If a child is continuously made the scape goat in a family, they will blame themselves for everything that goes wrong in most situations. Sad but true.

Because, their whole life, they've been told how stupid and useless they are and how everything they do is wrong. It sticks. Sometimes some mistake is brought up at work and I immediately wonder if I was the one who did it, even if I wasn't in the building at the time. I walk out of work and pick over everything I've done wondering what I'm going to get wrong for the next time I go in.

because they feel they can't fix whatever has happened, and so they blame themselves because they don't know how to blame others. They don't know how to accepted what has happened, and blame it on them for everything.

These are usually people who lack confidence in themselves & those who have a record of not having achieved much with their endeavors in life. Lacking self esteem & underestimate their own worth. All that make them feel they can't do anything right or successfully.

Because they have a very low self-esteem and consider others are better than themselves...That is mostly false. They should learn that we are all equal.
