ok. i am 17 soon to be 18 and i am moving out soon. i did some thinking and noticed that i need to make $400 just to pay the bills (truck payment and insurance and gas and utilities and apartment and food.) my mom said that she heard that being a telemarketer pays well and i have no problem geting rejected on the phone all day. i am in brandon florida wich is in the tampa bay area. do they hire at 17 are do i need to wait till im 18? and what would they start me at (money wise) is it by the hour or comission and how do i go about applying? any other ideas and things would be a great help. i will be going to collage next year.

uh. burger king aint going to pay $400-$500 a week. i wish they would. were could i work that starts you at at least $12/hr? that hires alot because they are in need of people. i dont mind the telemarketing job but if it dont pay what i need then its useless.

When we were in high school my best friend worked as a telemarketer. She was only 17. We live in St. Louis, but I'm not sure if the laws differ from state to state. If you're gonna be a telemarketer...you must be strong, I couldn't handle all the people hanging up and being rude to me. Good Luck!

Telemarketing is not a growing field due to the fact that people can get on the "do not call" list very easily and due to the fact that more and more people have cell phones and are not even listed in the telephone directory. Telemarketers are not respected and they get treated somewhat rudely by 64% of the people they call and very rudely by 9% of the people they call (who even answer the phone -- many have caller ID and do not answer the phone) so I would suggest finding a better job. Also, yes I think you are too young. Try Wendy's or Burger King.

I don,t think I could handle all day people hanging up on me being rude but seventeen is a bit young but thats up yo you all my best good luck
