Tfhere are some sections of the Galactic center in which stars are only a half light-year of so apart.

As for the 'lonliest' star... There are a few stars which drift in the void between Galaxies. Not many, but they are **way** far away from everything else.

Our star the sun is about 2/3 two thirds of the way out from the center in one of the arms of the Galaxy. in November from the northern latitudes we look out of the Galaxy at night. in May we look towards the center but cannot see all the stars with the naked eye.
