I am 18 and moved fom Ireland to the US when I was 10, so I got to fifth class. Now, I am looking to return to Ireland for college and I have an Irish passport and social security card. Does this make me entitled to the tuition fees of someone who has been educated in Ireland or will I have to go through the International student office and pay its lofty fees and tuition? The problem is, I have not taken the leaving cert, so would I have to do that in order to apply as an Irish citizen? I'm a little confused and I find the individual college websites to be useless for this type of info so I would appreciate any answers! Thanks!

It seems that there is a residency clause in the Free Fees Initiative in that:

"A candidate will qualify for EU status where they meet one of the following three criteria:

They are a national of an EU member state and will be ordinarily resident in an EU member state for three of the five years prior to the commencement of the programme.
They are a national of an EU member state and have received all their post-primary education within an EU member state
They have been in full-time employment in an EU member state for three of the last five years prior to the commencement of the first year of the course. This applies to candidates over the age of 23
They have been ordinarily resident in an EU member state for three of the five years prior to the commencement of the programme and their parents have been in full - time employment in an EU member state for three of the five years prior to the commencement of the programme. This applies to candidates under the age of 23 "

Overseas applicants can be assesed on recognised public examinations in their own countries.

the least confusing to be sure the respond to this question is to ask your mom, she'll understand all relating to the circumstances below which the relatives has Irish citizenship & no remember if or no longer you qualify to respond to the question right we would desire to nicely known how your loved ones have Irish passports - became your grandfather or mom born on the island of eire? in the journey that your grandfather became born on the island of eire then you are able to declare citizenship by making use of descent yet you should be registered in what's talked approximately as the distant places Births sign up, your citizenship will start up on the day you flow on the sign up If, inspite of the undeniable fact that, neither your grandfather or mom became born on the island of eire and your grandfather is a citizen by making use of descent himself then you ought to communicate on your mom to be sure the place you stand. Daniel C, there are quite some international places that don't award citzienship by making use of beginning on my own, quite in eu member states & in circumstances like this there are particular rules that enable citizenship to bypass to a distinctive technology in spite of the place the guy became born

As within America, the question is have you maintained a residency in your country?

With a residency maintained, you have contributed taxes to support the school system; and thus, should be entitled to the "in-country" rate.

Good Luck....
