NFL Players though it is tough to compare. First off, to whoever said that NBA players are tougher than NFL players.... you've got to be kidding me. Watching D Wade getting a wheel chair for a dislocated shoulder was embarrassing. I'm not saying a dislocated shoulder doesn't hurt but compared to what happens on a game by game occurrence in the NFL that's not even an argument.
Athletically I believe football players need more of a total package than NBA players. NBA players are not faster than NFL players. Faster than linemen? Yes. Faster than all NFL players? No. The NFL has had Olympic sprinters in the league before and continues to become a more speed orientated league year by year. On top of it all I don't think anyone knows how much football players put into a game even with short plays followed by small breaks, especially on the line. First off try bench pressing 300 pounds, now imagine that those 300 pounds are also doing everything they can to push back on you. Now repeat this 50 times and that's what Offensive and Defensive linemen do.
Its hard to compare the two sports since they value different things but the wear and tear on a football player's body is immense. Just take a look at a player who has endured a lifetime of concussions or the number of 30 year old running backs who get cut because their TOO old and washed up to be of use. There are some freaks in the NBA like a LeBron or Shaq that could be amazing in the NFL(as Tight ends and nothing else) but if he learned how to shoot try telling me Calvin Johnson wouldn't be a stud in the NBA
And Tony20 yeah some NFL players have said that NBA players are more athletic, NBA players have said the same thing for NFL players. Its because of the media world that loves to create contraversy so 95% of interviews with players are just trying to say what is politically correct.

NBA players are. And to help back this up several NFL players already admitted to it. Think about it. Who has a longer season. Sure the NFL players gotta be stronge and run for awhile. But, if you count the average miles of an average NBA player runs to the average miles of an NFL player runs in a season the NBA player got him beat by a long shot. Also, it is healthy to be stronge but look at the life expecticy of lets say a drug free weight lifter and a drug free distance runner. Do you know who has a higher life expecticy...thats right the runner. So strength isn't everything. Running is a lot more important than strength. NBA players also have a lot more endourance than NFL players. There are more injuries in the NFL than the NBA. Sure it is a contact sport but the NBA players when they hit the deck from a dunk or trying to get a rebound they usually get back up.

NBA Players are definately better athletes. Just look at players in the NFL like Antonio Gates.....one of the most athetically gifted TE's ever, and yes a former member of Kent State's starting 5. Also, you can't say NFL players are stronger, because i bet Shaq, Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, Elton Brand, KG could all bench as much or more weight than a lineman, or DB. Heck, Earl Boykins benches 375, and Dwight Howard was putting up around 500 his second year in the league. So that, along with the fact that NBA players play upwards of 35-45 minutes straight in a game where the action is nonstop, makes them the better athlete. I always said Lebron should play tight end, he would be an absoulte FREAK.

NFL players no contest. Not only do you carry 20 lbs on your back but running around 100yds of field while being pummeled. NBA players run constantly without a break except for an occasional time-out. but NFL still is more grueling to the body so the NFL is the most athletic

NBA players. They have to go through so much more than NFL players do. A NFL game consists of short breaks between every play, long time-outs, long breaks between offensive/defensive posessions, doesn't require as much endurance, etc.
in the NBA, one needs to be quick and ready for any fakes, lay-ups, dunks, etc. that the opponent may pull.

Probably NFl players but only by like 5% more. Because they have to run up and down the field a lot, but NFL players some stay behind or they just tackle, but the receiver does a lot and the QB too. They also carry extra weight on them too.

This is an easy one. NBA players are - they are fast, with quick reflexes, deceptively strong, with great leaping ability. And their hand eye coordination is second to none. I'm not saying there are not great athletes in the NFL, there most certainly are, but on average, the NBA has the superior all around athletes.

Oh easily, NFL, you have to be able to run a while in the NBA but you don't have to be super strong. And in the NFL remember, they have to run just as much, or possibly more, with 20-30 pounds of gear on them.

it depends on what you mean by athletic. they are both athletic, but NBA players are "faster" and have more endurance, while NFL players are "stronger" due to their type of training
