No, firefox take all the stored information from your previous browser and uploads it to itself. This includes DSL and Ethernet settings, cookies, favorites, proxies, and more. You should be fine.

No, when you install and run Firefox it even gives you the option of importing your internet settings from Internet Explorer.

I have DSL and use both IE7 and Firefox. However, the only thing I use IE7 for is doing windows updates...Firefox is much better. ;)
